Fotios Sampaziotis is a Physician Hepatologist in the Liver Unit of Cambridge University Hospitals and a Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Medicine of the University of Cambridge. Fotios’ research focuses on regenerative medicine, cellular therapies, bioengineering and hepatobiliary disease modelling using innovative in vitro, in vivo and ex-vivo models. He has led multiple studies published in high impact journals (Science, Nature Medicine, Nature Biotechnology), his work is internationally recognised, he has received multiple awards, including the Science and Sartorius Prize for Regenerative Medicine (finalist), the Medawar Medal (British Transplantation Society), and the Dame Sheila Sherlock award (British Society of Hepatology); and he has been selected as the National Scholar for the UK by the European Society of Gastroenterology.

Fotios is a founding member in the consortium for Regenerative Hepatology, with the mission of fostering multidisciplinary international collaborations and shaping international policy to advance regenerative medicine in hepatology. He is the co-founder, and CEO of Bilitech LTD, a start-up biotechnology company which aims to advance innovative cellular and bioengineered therapies to clinical products; and he is a co-inventor in the company’s technology, which is based on his research.
