Her most recent company she co-founded, IdealShape, sold in 2016 to The Hut Group. IdealShape is an online health & fitness company that uses a unique combination of meal replacement shakes, supplementation, nutrition, brain training and exercise programs to create lasting weight loss results for their clients.
Prior to IdealShape she was the CEO of O’Currance Teleservices an inbound telemarketing company, that she founded in 1994. Thirteen years later, O’Currance employed over 600 people with the majority of agents working from home offices. She’s one of the few women entrepreneurs in Utah that have raised venture capital to start her business and sold to a private equity fund.
In 2003 she was named Utah Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Consumer and Business Services category. She has been in the Utah Top 100 fastest growing companies for 5 years and was named Best of State for customer service/call center in 2004. She created one of Utah’s top 10 women owned businesses according to Utah Business Magazine; a title she held for nine straight years. Then, in 2009, she was named one of the “30 Women to Watch” by Utah Business magazine.
Carla has chaired the National Advisory Council at the Woodbury School of Business at UVU where she has been a member for 9 years. She has served as an advisor to the Women Success Center at UVU. She has been member of the National Association of Women Business Owners and held the title of VP of Communications. In addition, she has worked on WNET with the Salt Lake Chamber to mentor other women entrepreneurs. She is an advisor to the Women’s Tech Council. She enjoys mentoring students each year. She is also a founder for the Rollins Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology at BYU.
She currently lives in Lehi with her husband, David. They have 7 children and 14 grandchildren. She enjoys traveling, playing pickle ball, cycling, reading and playing with her grandchildren. One of her goals is to help others find their passion and explore the idea of starting their own company.
